Synopsis

## Gantz *Gantz* is one of manga's most audacious and uncompromising science fiction thrillers — Hiroya Oku's brutal, morally complex story of the dead forced to hunt aliens in a twisted game of survival. Kei Kurono and his childhood friend Masaru Kato are killed by a subway train while trying to rescue a drunk man from the tracks. Instead of entering the afterlife, they are teleported to a Tokyo apartment containing a mysterious black sphere called Gantz. Gantz forces recently deceased people to hunt and kill increasingly powerful aliens using futuristic equipment, promising that those who accumulate enough points can be resurrected. As Kei transforms from a selfish teenager into something harder to define, the alien hunts escalate in scale and the conspiracy behind Gantz deepens toward cosmic stakes. Oku's hyperdetailed artwork and willingness to explore every extreme of human experience make *Gantz* one of the most visceral reading experiences in seinen manga.
