Otakiva

otakivaAbout Otakiva

Otakiva is an independent editorial project about anime and manga, founded in 2026 by Roberto Gomez. We cover releases, retrospectives, and analysis with a focus on the Spanish-speaking perspective.

How it started

I started Otakiva in January 2026 after years of noticing that most anime coverage in Spanish is just late translations from US media. I wanted a place where analysis came from a Hispanic cultural context and where reviews weren't limited to plot summaries.

I live in Buenos Aires, I've been watching anime since 2000, and I started this project during the pandemic lockdown. My all-time favorites include Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Death Note, and I'm particularly interested in 90s animation.

Editorial mission

We cover:

  • Commercially published anime and manga
  • New releases and retrospectives of classic works
  • Industry, studio, and directorial analysis
  • Coverage with a Spanish-speaking perspective

We don't cover:

  • Scanlations, fansubs, or pirated content
  • Hentai or adult content
  • Unofficial leaks or rumors
  • Fandom drama without analytical value

How we work

Every article is written or edited by a named human author. We use AI tools for initial research, transcription, and grammar checks, but all analysis, opinion, and fact verification goes through a human. Sources are cited where applicable. Errors are corrected and marked with an update date.
