Synopsis

## Goblin Slayer *Goblin Slayer* is one of the most talked-about dark fantasy anime of 2018 — White Fox's adaptation of Kumo Kagyu's light novel that arrived in Fall 2018 and immediately ignited debate with its uncompromising depiction of violence and trauma in a fantasy RPG setting. Love it or loathe it, the series carved out a distinctive niche by treating low-level monsters as genuinely terrifying threats and its helmeted protagonist as a man defined entirely by singular, obsessive purpose. In a world that resembles a tabletop RPG, adventurers register at guilds and take quests ranging from the mundane to the catastrophic. Goblins are rated as the lowest-tier threat — weak, stupid creatures that novices handle to gain early experience. In reality, they are cunning, savage pack hunters who slaughter and worse without mercy. A young Priestess discovers this on her very first quest when her party is massacred by goblins, and she is only saved by the timely arrival of a silver-ranked warrior known simply as Goblin Slayer. He has devoted every waking moment since childhood — when goblins destroyed his village and killed his sister — to eliminating every goblin he can find, regardless of scale or prestige. Slowly, Priestess joins his informal party, alongside a world-weary High Elf Archer, a gruff Dwarf Shaman, and a stoic Lizard Priest, as they take on increasingly dangerous goblin threats. White Fox's production respects Kagyu's unforgiving tone while weaving in moments of dry humor and genuine camaraderie between the unlikely group of specialists.
