## KonoSuba Season 4 Is Happening — The Darkness Arc Gets Animated
Studio DEEN has officially confirmed that *KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!* Season 4 is in production, with an announcement made during the franchise's 10th anniversary livestream event. The new season will adapt the Darkness arc — the storyline that many light novel readers have long cited as the series at its most emotionally ambitious without abandoning the comedy that defines it.
### What the Darkness Arc Brings
The Darkness arc shifts the tonal balance of the series in ways Season 3 only gestured toward. While KonoSuba has always layered genuine character development beneath its comedy, the Darkness arc places Lalatina — better known as Darkness — at the center of a storyline that forces her nobility, her self-image, and her relationship with the party to be examined directly.
For the anime adaptation, this means Studio DEEN will need to sustain the series' visual and comedic energy while giving space to longer character beats. Season 3 demonstrated the studio is capable of both — the expanded episode count relative to earlier seasons allowed for more breathing room, and the Darkness arc will require at least that much.

A Season 4 announcement with this much lead time — a premiere window is expected to be confirmed later in 2026 — suggests the production is not being rushed.
The Darkness arc is exactly the right material to bring back lapsed viewers. It's recognizably KonoSuba in tone while delivering something the anime hasn't shown yet: Darkness as a protagonist in her own right, not just a recurring joke.

KonoSuba occupies an unusual position in the genre it helped shape.
