Synopsis
## Horimiya
*Horimiya* is a romance manga by HERO (webcomic, titled *Hori-san to Miyamura-kun*) and Daisuke Hagiwara (serialized adaptation in *Monthly GFantasy*). A fan-beloved series that ran from 2011 to 2021, it stands apart from typical high school romance manga by quickly resolving its central pairing and spending the bulk of its pages exploring what an honest, affectionate relationship between two authentically drawn people actually looks like.
Kyouko Hori appears to have a perfect school life: popular, admired, and socially at ease. What her classmates do not see is the exhausted girl who comes straight home to cook, clean, and care for her younger brother while her parents work long hours. Izumi Miyamura appears to be a gloomy, unremarkable background student. What his classmates do not see is the tattooed, multiply-pierced young man who is gentle, warm, and genuinely funny when he lets himself relax. The two discover each other's secrets by accident and are surprised to find someone who sees them clearly — and likes what they see. Horimiya moves past confession and confession-adjacent drama early, and devotes itself to the texture of their actual relationship: the teasing and tenderness, the family bonds, the friend group dynamics, and the small moments that accumulate into a life. It is one of the most satisfying completed romance manga in recent memory.
