Synopsis

## Hyouka *Hyouka* is Kyoto Animation's quiet masterstroke — a mystery series that operates not on murders or crimes, but on the small, intensely human curiosities that fill everyday life. Adapted from Honobu Yonezawa's *Koten-bu* light novel series, the 2012 production remains one of KyoAni's most visually accomplished works, elevating a school setting into something luminous and precise. Houtarou Oreki is a high school student who lives by a single philosophy: conserve energy. He avoids anything that wastes effort. But when his elder sister forces him to join the Classics Club to keep it from being disbanded, he meets Eru Chitanda — a girl of boundless curiosity who cannot let any mystery rest. Together with Satoshi Fukube and Mayaka Ibara, the club investigates mundane but surprisingly layered mysteries: why a classroom window broke, why a film competition went wrong, what really happened to their club's founder decades ago. *Hyouka* is about attention — about what happens when someone who wants to do nothing is drawn into caring about everything.
